U2 Concert Tour

U2 is expected to make an announcement about an upcoming concert tour in early March. Their new album, "No Line on the Horizon" is set to be released tomorrow, March 3, 2009.

Rumor has it that U2 will be on "The Late Show with David Letterman," and that they will possibly have a "secret" performance at Fordham University in New York on Friday, March 6th. (the lucky Jesuit university, if this is true!!)

A reliable source has said it will be a "Fordham University Only" event and it'll require a Fordham ID with your name and picture. Supposedly, professors have been asked by college administration to cancel morning classes for security purposes.

Hopefully this "leak" is indeed correct, let's keep our fingers crossed!

Another more believable rumor is that U2 will lower ticket prices for their 2009 tour due to the recession.

U2 Biography

U2 hails from Dublin, Ireland. The talented members of U2 are The Edge (guitar, vocals and keyboard), Bono (guitar and vocals), Adam Clayton (playing bass guitar) and their drummer and percussionist, Larry Mullen, Jr.

This band began 33 years ago in 1976 when the band members had limits to their musical knowlege, however, by the mid-1980's, this band was a top international performer. They are well known for the textural guitar playing by Edge, Bono's spectacular vocals and their "anthem" sound.

They had better success as a live band than in selling their albums in the early days. But, "The Joshua Tree" released in 1987 changed that. It was said that they went from the status of hero to superstar according to Rolling Stone. They reinvented themselves in the early 1990's with their album Achtung Baby and their accompanying tour Zoo TV Tour. For the rest of the 90's they continued experimenting with alternative rock. Since 2000, the band has played a conventional type of rock sound that has retained the influence of all their previous explorations in music.

U2 has sold over 140 million albums worldwide and they have won an incredible 22 Grammy Awards over the years - more than band has ever won. In 2005, they were inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility.

Rolling Stone Magazine has listed U2 at Number 22 in their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. During their long career (both individual and as a band) they've campaigned for many causes including social justice and human rights.
